Anau is an exquisite dive destination, celebrated for its majestic manta rays, especially during the energetic mating season. Picture yourself descending into the azure depths, enveloped by these gentle giants as they glide gracefully through the water. My own experience at Anau was nothing short of extraordinary. While diving by zodiac from the luxurious m/s Paul Gauguin, I had the privilege of encountering these magnificent creatures up close—an unforgettable 50 minutes at a max depth of 60 feet that still evokes a sense of wonder. Though this dive site is frequented by several dive operators, only eight divers dove with Paul Gauguin on my excursion. This enabled us to get closer and stay longer with the mantas. Trust me, this is a destination that promises an unparalleled adventure and incredible photos, especially if you dive privately or with a small group.
